BIOGRAPHY

1966年名古屋市生まれ。1967年に東京へ転居。英国ダーティントン・ホール・スクールを経て、早稲田大学へ入学。近代工芸史を学ぶ。卒業後、ロンドン大学ゴールドスミス・カレッジ大学院で陶芸の理論、実技を修める。帰国後、陶芸家、鯉江良二氏の知遇を得る。クラシカルでありながらモダニズムを融合させる独自の作風と造形が注目され、特に茶陶の分野において高い評価を得ている。銀座一穂堂サロン、新宿柿傳ギャラリーを始め、全国各地の画廊にて展覧会を多数開催。常に革新的な作品を発表し続けている。また、町田短編映画祭実行委員長など、芸術文化振興にも多数携わっている。近年は、学校法人正和学園理事、及び当法人運営の幼稚園にて芸術指導アドバイザー、兼講師を務め、幼児教育にも力を注いでいる。一方、音楽プロデューサーや作曲家、ミュージシャンとしても幅広く活動するマルチアーティストである。翻訳に「ラベンダーの咲く庭で」。祖父は陶芸家、矢野陶々。父は写真家、浅井慎平。

Born in Japan,1966, Ryusuke specifically came to finish his schooling at Dartington Hall School as a result of Bernard Leach’s reputation. He went on to study History of Art at Waseda University in Japan but returned to England to study Postgraduate ceramics at Goldsmith’s Collage in London. Back home he became an assistant to Ryoji Koie, considered one of Japan’s most innovative ceramic artist’s, before setting up his own studio. His first solo exhibition in 1994 at the Keio Gallery, Tokyo has led to him exhibiting regularly 5 or 6 times a year since then. He produces a wide variety of work from fine art ceramic sculptures to tea ceremony pots.
